The Resource Description Framework. (RDF)

W3C - World Wide Web Consortium

W3C's role in making the Recommendation is to draw attention to the specification and to promote its widespread deployment.

This enhances the functionality and interoperability of the Web.

RDF Specification Development:

The RDF Specifications build on URI and XML technologies.

These documents are intended to jointly replace the original Resource Description Framework specifications,

• RDF Model and Syntax (1999 Recommendation) .

• RDF Schema (1999 Proposed Recommendation).

RDF along with OWL are Semantic Web specifications.

The Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a language for representing information about resources in the World Wide Web.

Metadata Architecture and the OWL specifications which build on RDF and provide language for defining structured, Web-based ontologies which enable richer integration and interoperability of data among descriptive communities. (Networked Engineering - Engineering Knowledge Management)

The Semantic Web is not a very fast growing technology.

infrastructure ,for the web of the next generation.

RDF is a recommendation (since 10 February 2004) of the World Wide Web Consortium to the exchange and to the storage of more structured like Semi-structured data in the WWW.

Unlike in XML, RDF enables the mixture of data more differently and it makes possible the independent use of data.
RDF models will be as XML- documents stored, data could be stored both in the basic serialization syntax and the basic abbreviated syntax.

RDF/XML isn't the only representation of an RDF model, a simple and strictly-defined textual format for RDF graphs, is named N-Triples.

Objective: Get an overview about the RDF; acquire capacity to work with RDF.
